A friendly community choir
We are a mixed adult SATB (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass) choir and hold regular events throughout the North Hertfordshire and South Bedfordshire community.
Musically, we perform a wide range, including songs from musical theatre, choral classics, sacred pieces and pop songs, so there is bound to be something to suit all tastes.
Our Musical Director, Natalie Carter
Natalie is an alumni of the Association of British Choral Directors, having undertaken training with them over 10 years ago. Nat leads us with enthusiasm, energy and patience! She and our Pianist Martin Goodchild, go through the pieces until everyone is confident – being able to read music is definitely not a requirement.
Singing in harmony with other people is a wonderful experience and much easier and less daunting once you come through the door than we first thought.
We enjoy our rehearsals and there is time for laughing as well as singing, as long as we breathe in the right places!
Consultant Musical Director, Calum Zuckert
Calum is a professional musician and choral leader. Dynamic and knowledgeable, he led GCS for 3 years until April 2025. We had to let him leave when he moved to South London for his work, but the relationship built over those years remains strong and we are delighted that he agreed to stay as our consultant MD, undertaking technical rehearsals and workshops he co-ordinates with our regular MD, Natalie Carter.
Rehearsals
We rehearse on Wednesday evenings at St. Christopher’s School, Barrington Road, Letchworth Garden City, SG6 3JZ from 7.30pm until 9.00pm. Come and join us for two free taster sessions, you’ll be assured of a warm welcome and no auditions are required! We don’t charge a joining fee and our membership is £16 per calendar month (2025) . Music is provided free of charge, we just ask you to look after it.
